QIGONG DEEP STRETCH

This class gives you the best of both worlds: immune and alignment support with a focus on muscle conditioning and flexibility. Qigong exercises will be interspersed with Deep Stretch postures so we can find the balance between stillness and movement, tonification and dispersion, yin and yang, inhale and exhale. We aim to enhance your immunity through movements focused on the major lymphatic centers, to ground your body through dynamic and static stretching, to create peace of mind and relaxation through enhanced breathing practices.

In addition to the classes on the calendar below, we are also at Fit Athletic Club in Mission Beach for a 7am Deep Stretch class and an 8:15am Qigong class. All you have to do is show up and register at the front desk as a walk-in student! The $15 fee gives you access to both classes and use of the facilities (including the pool and outdoor sauna).

The Latest Science on Yoga and Stretching

"Despite a wide range of methodological gaps and limitations, yoga interventions were shown to be beneficial and yielded positive results without any adverse outcomes. While work must continue using well-designed clinical trials, the findings reported here strongly support the integration of yoga in the conventional cancer care."

International Journal of Yoga. 2018 Jan-Apr; 11(1): 3–29.

"Yoga has an effective role in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression that can be considered as complementary medicine and reduce the medical cost per treatment by reducing the use of drugs."

"These results imply that yoga may be implemented as a complementary intervention for populations at risk or already suffering from diseases with an inflammatory component. Beyond this, yoga practice may exert further beneficial effects by enhancing cell-mediated and mucosal immunity."

Journal of Behavioral Medicine 2018 Aug;41(4):467-482.
